OK, see step by step instructions:

1- pick up your camera
2- search for usb port in your pc
3- plug camera in usb port

that's it.

Now you can try the following software:

guvcview (http://guvcview.berlios.de):
just follow the instructions on the page for the latest version or run:
sudo apt-get install guvcview for an older version (ubuntu default is 1.3.0 I think, current is 1.4.0)

cheese:
sudo apt-get install cheese

I think this is installed by default

Для установки Java в Ubuntu 10.04, вам необходимо выполнить следующие действия:

1. Откроем Терминал и выполним в командной строке команду добавления репозитория:

$ sudo add-apt-repository "deb http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu lucid partner"

2. Обновляем список источников приложений выполнив:

$ sudo apt-get update

3. И, наконец, устанавливаем пакеты, необходимые для работы Java в Ubuntu 10.04. Для этого выполним команду:

$ sudo apt-get install sun-java6-jre sun-java6-plugin sun-java6-fonts

После выполнения этих действий, Java будет установлена.

Микрофон в Skype в Xubuntu 10.04

1. Alt+F2, ввести там pavucontrol (если его нет ставим его дав в терминале команду sudo apt-get install pavucontrol или через синаптик)
2. Перейти на вкладку Ввод
3. Там будет ползунок регулятора громкости, нужно нажать на кнопку с замком для того чтобы ползунки двигались раздельно
4. Ползунок правого канала уводим в самый минимум, а ползунком левого регулируем громкость как душе угодно.
